Hi all, just joined this group and looking forward to making some new friends.
Delighted to read about CB's, I thought they were a thing of the past.
I had the pleasure of losing my voice shouting at people in the US and other far away places on "the skip"
Is it still on the AM band?

Good stuff,
Don't think any of my old kit is still around, I guess some research and shopping could be on the cards!

Hi Comet and welcome.

As Aaron says CB's are still on AM. I'm wondering if I need a Din set or if a handheld will give me the coverage that I need. I'm pulling a caravan so I may have to go for the set with an external aerial.

Hi Tourer, from the old days, a hand-held is handy but a mobile unit with a good aerial always perfomed better.

Ok I'm going to take the advice of both Aaron and Comet and when restrictions are over, take a trip over to Raymond Long in Dunkineely.

What I currently have my mind set on but subject to Raymond telling me if it will work or not is a CB powered through a cigar socket in the car as opposed to a permanent wiring job with a mag mount aerial cabled in through the boot. I hope I can get an aerial lead thin enough that it won't permanently damage the boot rubber.
