Were you able to book Strandhill in advance or is it a first come - first served basis? Only a couple of hours from home it used to be a good spot for a last minute getaway but this year is particularly bad for last minute availability.
another heads up. it seems that both Strandhill and Rosses Point parks, both run by Sligo CC, have undergone ( much needed) upgrades over the closed season.
the following from their site regarding 2022 bookings for anyone interested.
"Both campsites at Strandhill and Rosses Point will be taking bookings via our online booking platform from early February. We will update the website and our social media pages with a specific date closer to the time.We are undertaking extensive upgrades at both parks during the off-season and look forward to welcoming visitors back from Wednesday 13th of April and will close on Sunday 25th of September 2022."
they are ideal for a Charlie & Me revisit to see if the upgrades were completed and to what standard. on my last visit to the Strandhill site i was disappointed by how much it had been let deteriorate, which is unfortunate as its was once my favourite site.
if it cant be fixed with a hammer, its an electrical fault......
We were in the area last year, though the website said they were fully booked, we rocked up and asked if there was room for us in our motorhome. We got a pitch in the tenting area (between reception and beach/airport walk area), so long as no EHU was needed they said no problem, we ended up staying three nights.
