Just back from a 2 night stay over the weekend, and once again can't fault the site and facilities (which as others have mentioned, been upgraded since our last visit)..
The site was full for the Friday and Saturday night, and the locals have said that they are pretty much booked up every weekend for the next year.. and a quick look at their online booking platform confirms that with a couple of exceptions here and there, midweek is of course quieter but so is the town if that's where you like to wander too.
We had a few fizzy drinks in some of the local hostelries and they couldn't have been more welcoming, they all say how much of a boost to the town the Hub is, and all the places we visited were dog friendly. One of the things we do like is not having to do the food shop before we leave, as the Supervalu is so handy to nip too. There are multiple walks in the area, and it's so peaceful..
The lovely people of the town do wish that it was used more often mid-week but it's understandably that this isn't possible for everyone, but we are going to look at a mid week stay in early 2025..
We stayed in the castle pitches, perfectly fine but a little muddy underfoot and a few units struggled to get of the pitches, but everyone made it out in the end. Unfortunately that can be the down side to the proximity to the River Barrow, and the good old Irish Weather that some pitches can become a little waterlogged if not a hard stand, but do not let that put anyone of coming here all year round..
Looking forward already to going back..
