Deirdre & I went to France for our honeymoon June 2012. We stayed on mainly Les Castles camp sites and they were fantastic with the exception of one.

The site Le Ruisseau des Pyrenees in Burrutz. This camping park seemed to be mainly for holiday cabins for Key Camp and the likes.

The site had a great swimming pool and water park for kids. BUT it was not designed for motorhomes, caravans or tents..I reckon they had to facilitate us to get a grade of some sort or to become a Le Castle site.

There was no waste water disposal point or chemical loo disposal point we were told to just pour it down the toilet in the main loo block.

The pitch size was tiny and the electric hook up points were few and far between and far away from where we parked up.

Be warned this IS NOT A NICE CAMP SITE.

Every other Le Castle site we stayed on was fantastic and we didnt pay anymore than €23 per night all in.

France gets a savage 9 / 10 from us this site gets a 3,

There are a few smaller parks in the Les Castle book that we stayed on too, worth a visit.

Why not post topics on you trips in France and other places we would love to hear about them !!

Hi Aaron as I said before i am new to all this forum stuff so I may not be doing this right, but ya France what a country to camp in.Dont want to get into Ive done this Ive done that senario but I (we) try and avoid the bigger sites. If a campsite has 3 swimming pools is because it has lots of Mobilehomes and thats a no no. We try and go off the beaten track avoiding the coast in July Aug because of the crowds. This year went to Ile De Re in June (Camping Interlude)good spot fab island great cycling tracks and lovely villages.

We spent 6 weeks in France this year too many sites to review here went down as far as Bordeaux from cherburg n then into Loire valley to Disney. Found the yellohs excellent for location, amenities n for kids fab value in May June approx 18 Euro a night including hook up swimming pools. Etc. If anyone is going this direction and needs specifics give us a shout :cheer:
