Curracloe Camping & Holiday Village 1 year 5 months ago #1572

hi all, one to avoid here. family of 5 (kids are 7, 3 & 1) had booked the campsite at Curracloe arriving the Saturday of the August weekend. due to inclement weather we made a switch to the Sunday which was no problem with the site. Arrived on the Sunday to what looked like a war zone, people squashed in everywhere. we have a trailer tent 5m X 4M when set up and had noted this in or booking, when the owner came down his 1st question was "were you supposed to arrive yesterday" explained i had emailed and told it was no problem and he said he was not informed by the girl who answers the emails. now onto finding a "pitch" would you think you would fit here, there, if i move the washing line from in between those 2 caravans would you fit there etc. finally went up the hill, here you go lovely big pitch, covered with debris, wood with nails, used vapes etc. as the location was good i was willing to clear the site etc make it safe for kids, that is until we saw the bathrooms,. 3 yr old needed to go, off we went, the smell was awful, to make matters worse they had just been cleaned, cleaners were leaving as i entered. 2 stalls, 1 urinal, 2 shower stalls in the men's, on site guests complaining to cleaning staff that the smell of raw sewerage is coming into the onsite restaurant from what looked like an open sewer that the bathrooms pods runs down into, looks like it was backing up. that was the final straw, turned the car around back down the hill and away we went, We were in such a hurry to leave we forgot to take pictures of how bad it really was. unfortunately as it was a bank holiday weekend we could not get a site with EHU that could take us nearby so back we went to Cork, 7 and a half hour round trip, kids tired, disappointed and upset. Lucky for us a campsite we visit each year had a vacancy on the Monday through to Friday and we booked this.

we have been camping for 5 years now and we do not have very high standards, clean facilities, safe site, not much to ask when you have small kids, this is the worst i have ever seen, it will be a while before we head Wexford direction again after this. i know there are some lovely sites but it was such a wasted day traveling up & down its an area we will avoid for the next yr or 2.

That’s really sad to experience that kind of site and reaction, you could have got camping in the Getaway in Dungarvan not far off your route back to Cork. Have a look at my review.
