This is probably one of our favourite sites as its a big hit with the kids. Great setting right by a river with fishing and swimming. New modern facilities , nice staff, clean, safe and well run. Massive playground and other pay per use activities for the kids to keep them occupied for hours and even days. Small village near by with some good places to eat.

It is very family focused so unless you have small ones in tow it wouldn't have a lot to offer and it can be a bit noisy ..well kids are noisy :) Expensive €36 for 2+2 inc Elec and pay for showers .. Paying for showers is becoming to be a bit of a bug bear for me these days.

This site can be heavily booked out in advance during the holiday weekend and summer months ...so i would advice booking well in advance.

The first campsite we stayed at. I used to avoid them and park at the edge of town due to the discreet nature of my previous Merc Sprinter camper. Loved it as was able to bbq and sit out. The tenters were across the river and a younger generation so a bit noisy, but settled down after dark.
I'm on the road again.

The owners of Hidden Valley are not sitting on their laurels. After their big award win in 2019 they have opened more facilities in the intervening period.

Start with Covid. There is loads of sanitiser and loads of signs. Perspex screens at all the reception and food areas. Its a busy site, so there is a dependence on people to mind their behaviour distance wise. All the facilities were open.

In terms of amenities there is laser tag, an aqua park, a massive and i mean massive playground. Its really three playgrounds together. There is mini golf and in the middle of the park there is a big lake with canoes, paddle boats and bumper boats. There is also a cinema. They also run things like outdoor bingo. The playgrounds are free, there are charges for the rest.

There is chalets, space for campers and caravans and large area dedicated to tents. So regardless of what kind of camping you and your friends like, there is space for you.

The reception is new and is the most impressive of any site i have seen to date. There is a limited range of toys and bbq equipment on sale as well as icecreams. There are no groceries but there is a centra just outside the gate.

IN terms of food, there is a small burger shack which sells basic fast food. Since last year they have developed a larger restaurant, The Lakehouse. The service at the restaurant isnt fantastic but the food is really nice and the staff are friendly. Its just a bit disorganised. To be honest, that doesnt really bother me that much on holidays.

The local town rathdrum is full of good pubs and a range of takeaways. Beware, the walk from Hidden Valley to rathdrum is not that long but it is up a verrrry steep hill.

Cost wise, its 32 per night for two adults at high season, a hard stand and hook up. Kids are a fiver each per night. So, its not cheap, but there is a lot to do.

Anyway, this is a great site. Perfect for families and with lots of accommodation options. To be fair, it is great to see people investing to build an even better facility.

We stayed here last night - instead of tonight because of lockdown - really pleasant and seems miles apart from Redcross despite the same owners - a totally different vibe and class of camper and actually can't wait to go back again after leaving it so long! We had a grassed (bare in parts with discarded tent pegs) pitch for our motorhome - one row away from the lakeside but good outlook and despite a few noisy campers in tents nearby at 4am it was a lovely stay - great facilities and so dark the clear sky was illuminated by all the stars etc. Wonderful set up for families and sooooo much for kids to do. Well done as all the investment and ideas have paid off and it really lives up to the name of a holiday resort - definitely not just a campsite! Thank you!
