Back again this time Charlie & Me brought Deirdre and yet again it was fantastic (we had engine problems with the BeeBaw but that's another story)

The park was very busy with everyone keeping to covid regs' and still managing to have a great time.

We met LOADS of Charlie & Me viewers & Camping Crew podcast listeners it was great.

With the park been so busy the loos & showers were cleaned every 40 or 50mins it was great to see it.

and yet again I say We WILL be back.

Booked this place for my first trip in my van after buying her in July. I’ve been a total of 3 times now and I have to say I’ve enjoyed every time I have been. It’s lovely and close by for me and my 2 other trips here were in October and September. The last time was with my daughter who came with me for the first time in October.
John is a very friendly man and very helpful. Very quiet and peaceful spot with lovely views of the lake. It’s very remote so bring plenty of supplies as there are no nearby shops but Athlone is a few mins drive away. Showers and facilities are spotless clean. €1 for 7 mins. Campers kitchen onsite and a perfect spot for anyone fond of boating or water sports. There is a pub nearby called the dog and duck but I haven’t visited there yet.

Good points. Spotless clean facilities. Peaceful and quiet spot.
Bad points. Not too many but the only thing I can say is it’s a bit remote and there’s no shops within walking distance.

€27-29 a night with EHU.

And we are back.
This campsite still ticks all the boxes for us and no doubt we will be back again.

This is a lovely spot, right on the lakeside. Most of the pitches seem to be relatively well marked out so there's clearly been some improvements since the first posters. John was very welcoming. The kids loved seeing the ducks waddle about the campsite and the lake is beautiful to swim in - it's surprisingly warm. It's a pity there isn't an option to rent boats though as that would be great.

Bathroom facilities were pretty good. You have to pay for showers though. There is really good pub a five minute walk from the campsite which is a big plus and there was a trad session on the night we were there (Wednesday). The campsite was quiet the night we were there.

The one downside would be the campers kitchen area which is quite run down. There's a big log cabin which has three rooms. One has a pool table and a large picnic table. The second has a washer, dryer, kettle and microwave and the third just has a sink, despite being a large room. A lot more could be made of that whole building as it overlooks a gorgeous stream.

However, as a stopover heading from east to west or vice versa you could do a lot worse.
