Heading here again for the October holiday weekend
DIS-A-POINT-MENT to say the least not heading to Dunmore this weekend ....
The site has a lets call it "back" enterance which for my rig pulling a trailer with a smart car on is the perfect enterance to the site for us. As going through the small roads dow the strand and then UP that BIG HILL to the site is mad for us ..... The back gate CAN'T be opened this weekend due to some kind of blockage ....
I would have tought that this enterance should be kept clear for emergancy reasons ? but no so its off to Morriscastle in Wexford for the weekend
We stayed for a number of nights in Dunmore East as part of our holiday this year. The owners were very friendly and had a warm welcome.
The site is clean, with the toilets and showers in good shape. The showers are a quid but you get plenty of hot water.
As pointed out on a Charlie and Me video, the campsite is now mainly made up of static homes and logn stay rentals.
Surprisingly, given that it is a decent size of a site, there is no shop.
Dunmore East is a nicet town. There is a really lovely sheltered beach and a very nice harbour with some very good fish restaurants. The site is also a good base to explore places like Tramore and Waterford.
On the down-side, the playground and grass football pitch are the furthest point away from the bulk of the camper pitches. Other than these, there is nothing else for kids on site. With two young kids that was a pretty big drawback.
I think this would be a great venue for an older couple or for people looking for a base in the South East. For families, possibly another location would make more sense.
