Having attended a festival at the Santa Pod Raceway, Northampton the last weekend in July, I Couldn't face the 5 hr drive back to Holyhead for the ferry, so stopped over at Charlie Bassets Pub Stopover which is approx 2.5 hrs from Holyhead.
This is a lovely little Pub in the old quaint Village of Dilhorne, a half hour from Alton Towers. There are several hard stands and grass stands to the rear of the Pub in a secure area separated from the main car park with outdoor facilities for grey and black water, separate toilets and showers. EHU and Showers were inclusive in the price, which for 5 adults was £50 for the 1 night.... a little steep perhaps. Levelling Chocks are a must.
The Pub serves nice food and has an outdoor dining area with playground for the little ones. We were able to purchase drinks at the bar and return to our unit to sit out in the glorious sun and admire the countryside.
There were several other units there that had stopped over to break the long travel from the east coast of the UK to Wales.
All in all we are glad we stopped over and in the future will do so again even if its to break the monotony of the UK motorways.
