On the site of what use to be Rathbeggan Lakes Adventure Park (now closed due to insurance costs) we have Meath Eco Park Camping.

This is an ADULT ONLY (over 18s) campsite and its Dog friendly with a dog play area. With around 21 hard stands with EHU, there are water points around the site, black & grey water disposal, bins, toilets hot & cold water and showers (showers are out of commission at the moment) and a beautiful lake view and walks.

There is catch & release fly fishing on site (€20 to €25). As you walk around the site you can still see bits of the old adventure park old swings, slides and a playground.

A pitch is €20 or €25 with hook up.  When the grass is dry smaller vans can park around the lake side with no EHU its very wild and beautiful.

Each morning 2 fresh eggs are left by your van for breakfast for FREE.

20mins to Dublin city the airport is also close by. Navan, Dunboyne, Trim & Blancherdstown all only a few minutes drive from the site.

We will be back

I went to this site last weekend and showers are still broken, the fishing lake is no longer stocked so fishing is unavailable, also no eggs in the morning, we constantly had issues with our hook up tripping out as it's only a 6amp supply. It's a lovely quiet place to stay all the same.

ahh that's a pity because as you say it is a nice place (but would be better if everything they offer was in place)

I got onto Dave the owner and passed on your comments (anonymously) here is his reply..

pine marten killed all my hens, and electricity too dear to hold hot water through the winter ! There is fishing available on the small lake. Our best customers are self contained wagons so no need for the showers
Thanks for forwarding that on.

I would definitely go back all the same nice and peaceful, but he needs to update the information about the site.

Stayed here over the recent Bank Holiday weekend and just wanted to add our impressions.

No doubt about it, this is a beautiful site, and certainly we found it extremely peaceful… however, there is a constant background of a) road noise as it is right beside the busy M3 motorway and b) aircraft noise as it is on the airport flight path. That said, neither of these bothered us, just worth a mention.

The toilet and shower blocks are pretty basic, and not very inviting. The dog exercise area is currently also in use for car storage, fun for a bit of hide and seek all the same!

The price at €20 plus €5 for EHU is very reasonable, and we did get delicious eggs each morning. There are plenty of routes around the lakes to explore too. I’d say we will definitely be back.
