Gyles' Quay campsite is located near to Gyles Quay about 5km from Carlingford. Dundalk and Newry are both about 20 minutes away.
The Campsite straddles two sides of a country road. The main footprint of the site is mainly static motorhomes. This side has room for about 5 tourers. The section across the road can accommodate about 20 tourers and has a few glamping spots.
The site is well set up for covid. There campers kitchen, toilets, laundry and showers are all open, but require a key to use. You get this on registration. You get a flyer on registration with all the covid guidelines
There is a shop and a bar and restaurant and also a takeaway on the campsite. Both had very friendly staff. The Bar, Fergusons does lovely food. It had a good atmosphere. I suspect that this place has live music normally and it looks like good fun.
There is a playground, tennis court and small football pitch. These are a good distance from the touring pitches. You couldnt really let very young ones go off to them on their own, but for slightly older kids they would be great.
The pitches were well maintained. Hard stand with grass for awnings. All with electric and water.
The campsite is a 2 minute walk from a lovely sandy beach. When we were there it was very calm water. I would imagine it would be very popular in the height of summer.
Pretty good value. 30 quid per night for 2 adults + 2 kids. This included electric hook up and awning. They also allowed for an extra car which we needed to bring.
I liked this place. It was quieter than many spots we would take the kids, but it was very friendly and we will definitely go back for another weekend next year.
