Insurance Renewals

Hello everyone,

Well that time of the year has creeped around for us once more, and our campervan insurance is due for renewal. We are currently insured with Aviva through Arachas, and to be fair the cost is not extortionate in any way at €350 per year, but I do love a shop around to see if I can get something cheaper or something in or around the same with more extras such as breakdown cover, being able to drive the camper as your day to day vehicle (this one would be of great interest to me)etc.

I know the MH and Campervan insurance companies are quite limited here in Ireland so it might be difficult to get anything better, but I also know being a member of some of the Clubs (ICCC, Irish Motorhome Club, Motor Caravan Club of Ireland can offer discounted rates with some associated insurers.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or suggestions of which club would be a good one to join.

We are with Dolman Insurance, the fee is pretty similar to what your already paying. I'd also be interested to see if clubs can offer group discounts?

I have been with the motorcaravan club ireland for 23yrs now since my 1st van.

You have to par a fee to join BUT its been the best cover we have had AND if you need help or advice on ANYTHING camping related including getting towed being a member is worth the fee.

But might give them a go anyway..

I’m like Liamk here, similar price with Dolmen, not really shopped around as I felt price was good value. Had reason to use breakdown assist last year when my son had it for a weekend and had a rear wheel blowout on the Sunday coming home.

Been on to the Motorcaravan Club Ireland as Aaron suggested, they are offering insurance at €333 which is a tiny bit cheaper, then you do have to pay the membership fee, but you do get the option of using your motorhome as your primary vehicle, so you don’t need to have insurance on a private vehicle which is a little bonus.. and they are there for other support if needed..
