Liberty Music Festival 5 months 3 days ago #1688

Ok, so first off definitely not a campsite, aire or stop over, only open for the Liberty Music Festival in Thurles, Co. Tipperary, but felt it deserves a call out on the this site for anyone thinking of coming to the festival in 2025.. But it’s still GAA club and grounds the rest of the year!

The Liberty Music Festival is a real fun tribute band festival for all the family and at the sprightly age of 49, my first ever festival, and I was not disappointed.

It was the Thurles Gael clubs first time hosting motorhomes, caravans and tenters for the festival (only the festivals second year in the Town Park location in its current form, I think in 2022 it was in the town square and a smaller event) but WOW did they do an amazing job, from providing great information prior to the festival and arrival to the welcome received and a very active WhatsApp ground giving daily information and even a lost and found service.

The parking for motorhomes and campers is on the GAA pitch itself so fairly level all round, caravans were in an adjacent field. No EHU as expected and forewarned, but grey and black water disposal available along with portaloos and communal showers in the club house if required in the mornings.

We arrived around 7pm Friday evening and there was a DJ, BBQ and pop up bar on the go already.. live music followed from 8pm till 12:30/1am, but that didn’t cause any sleep issues for us anyway.

Saturday & Sunday morning, Breakfast Rolls, tea/coffee and pastries were available from 9am, shuttle buses ran from the club to the town every 30 mins for €2 each way..

The festival wrapped up around 11pm each night but there was a BBQ, Live music and the pop up bar again at the club till the early hours! The total cost for the park up for the 3 nights €65! Weekend pass for the festival just €27.50 per person.. amazing value in my opinion!

Hopefully they will run this every year, it’s a great festival and the club really did do an amazing job, the team were so lovely and fun from arrival to departure, and I’m sure a lot of the proceeds are going back to the club which is brilliant (and Kudos to the chap who who won the split the bucket draw, and donated his winnings back to the club).

There is another campervan/motorhome facility available in the local rugby club so there are other options. And if the weather is not the best, there is even a live stream of the festival shown in a lot of the local pubs.. great idea and another boost to the local economy!

Will be back next year all going well, though there was talk about moving the festival to Semple Stadium.. could the trip to Tipp be back???
