Campsite number 5 on our Summer 2020 tour around Ireland and WOW !!!!

We left Tralee in a thunderstorm took on a 4 hour drive (turned into almost 6 due to rain & road works) Got here at 4.30pm to savage sunshine and what a location.

COVID: Everything was to code sanitisers, signage there was even a one way system to and from the toilet block.

The site itself has no "pitches or stands" so to speak ite a free for all if you want power pitch up near a power point there's a sea view from almost every spot unless you pick a dune for shelter where most tents were...

The beach is a beautiful sandy cove ideal for swimming and kayaking or just lounging on.

Things to do NOTHING and that's good thing .....

For the life of me I can't remember what we paid a night as it was all done online but whatever it was it is worth it.

Only problem here is ....... we didn't book a third night.

Kris and his family have something unique here - a truly special place and with the location, sea views and access to Omey Island and wider areas it doesn't get any better - whatever the weather.
Cannot recommend enough and as soon as lockdown was lifted at the end of June this was our first destination - I find it my decompression feel good sanity restoration location.
Next visit cannot come soon enough! Thanks Kris - keep it up!

We stayed there last year and were blown away by it. The kids love the beach, so did we (parents). it as as close to wild camping as can be got, yet in the safety of a campsite. A beautiful walk (or cycle) to Omey island, across a tidal sandy roadway is well worth it.

Just back from a lovely three nights here. When the sun shines it's hard to think of a more beautiful spot and it's a great location for exploring the surrounds. Ferry to Inishboffin gores from Cleggan 5km away and Clifden is 10km away. The white sand beach is beautiful and the shallow waters are perfect for kids.

The facilities are good but not great. There are 4 toilets and 2 showers for the whole site so you will almost certainly have to queue at some stage. It's €1 for a 5 min shower. The facilities are generally clean though.

The site itself is natural and undulating which is lovely but it does mean that for certain pitches your table and chairs will be on a slant which could be a bit annoying. Didn't bother us though and I prefer the natural feel of this kind of campsite than a load of hardstands.

Lovely vibe on site from other campers and there's a little coffee caravan open from Weds-Sun.

You have to get permission to use a BBQ or a firepit. The owners will rent you a firepit for €13 + €10 deposit (which includes wood). Ostensibly it's to protect the grass but it's also a handy way for them to make some extra cash!

As for the "Eco" part of the name, again I'm assuming this has more to do with the natural layout of the site as I didn't see much else in the way of eco credentials e.g. they have general waste and recycling but when I asked where to put food/compost waste I was told to put it in the general waste.

The two owners seem to do it all themselves and they clearly take pride in their beautiful site and it shows. Will be back.
