Hi all,

We have an old Carver Cascade MKIi water heater in our old 1997 campervan, and it seems to have a leak in under the main cylinder, assuming that it wasn’t emptied for a period of time prior to when we purchased it last sept and we haven’t really had the need to use it since we got it.

But now summer 2024 is upon us, we were doing some repairs and decided to take another look at the heater more for just convenience when wild camping.. I have searched for replacement parts or a replacement unit but they are like hens teeth and impossible to find..

We don’t have a fitted water tank, just a 23L water container.

My question(s) is, is it worth or even possible to replace just the tank, is it worth getting a new unit fitted, we don’t use the shower and for hot water we boil the kettle. 

When we do sell the van on I’m sure it will add value, but as it’s such an old van it may outweigh the cost of a new unit.

any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried Lisburn Caravan Breakers? My understanding is that the gate is closed at the moment to walk-ins but they are answering the phone.

I got on to Lisburn Caravan breakers and they do have some, I emailed them to ask about cost and postage etc, but don't think I got a response, then I completely forgot about it, must try them again. If they don't ship I guess could take a spin up too..
