Hard water - lime scale residue 2 years 3 months ago #1507

Hi folks, I’m after trading up my camper van to a Fiat Ducato Mohican, it’s a 2003. The guy I bought it off lives in Dublin where his water is very hard and he suffered a lot with limescale causing problems with the water pump and filter.
My water supply here in Kildare is much softer so I have flushed out the system a number of times now, but I’m just wary as to residual limescale.
I know white vinegar solution is very good To break down the calcium carbonate and I was wondering about making up a solution and leaving it sit for 24 hours and then flushing out. I think the fresh water tank is either 100 or 150 L just going on the time it takes to fill it.
Any suggestions or comments greatly welcomed.

would there be any harm in dropping a couple of Calgon tablets in and letting them sit for 24/48hrs?
if it cant be fixed with a hammer, its an electrical fault......

Just a quick update, before Christmas I added a few cap fulls of liquid Calgon and left it sit a few weeks, then drained it out via the shower, WHB, and sink. You could feel the difference in the water, it actually felt soft. I flushed the tank out twice with freshwater and all seems ok. I Prefer to fill my own fresh water than using site waters where I don’t know the hardness.
