I am starting the planning stage for the Holliers 2025 and I think I would like to go to Germany.  Does anyone have any experience of Germany and would like to throw some suggestions my way?

Pulling a caravan and travelling for three weeks, there are so many possibilities, but I need to be realistic as to what I can cover. I have been with a motorhome, but that was nearly 20 years ago, and I covered the Romantic Road.  It is a possibility to go back there, but what are my other options?  Also, does anyone have recommendations for good campsites?

Over to you gang.....no pressure..!!!!

Hey Tourer,

Haven’t made it over to Germany in our Campervan (not sure it would make the trip) but was there last year for a long weekend, and there was more motorhomes and caravans around than you could shake a gear stick at.

We stayed for a couple of nights in a hotel at the Technik Museum in Speyer and it has a decent size caravan park.. and it’s in the grounds of the museum itself.. looked really nice when we were there..

The museum is seriously mind blowing, I mean seriously.. imagine the kids playing in the play ground underneath an F14 fighter jet, before climbing up to a 747, walking out on it wing, then coming down the slide!!! Our you could take a look at the space museum and the Buran Space Shuttle!  You could spend days here and still not be bored.. it’s huge, there’s a good restaurant on site and it’s a ten minute walk into the town, and it looks a lovely town to visit, we didn’t make it in during the day, but felt very safe at night. I would highly recommend it!

We went on to another Technik museum in Shinsheim, but they don’t have a caravan park sadly, but they do have a Concorde and a “Conscorski” very worth a visit if your in that area .

Hi ChateauDucatto97,

Many thanks for this. I certainly will be looking at speyer.technik-museum.de/en/caravanpark as it will enable me break the journey either to the romantic road or coming back from it. It looks like a really interesting place.
