Oven vs Microwave

Just back from a lovely couple of days at River Valley Holiday park in Red Cross, Co.Wicklow, and after trying our pre loved “new” air awning room we agree it’s a game changer for any size of Campervan or Motorhome essentially doubling your floor space..

But then the discussion became around the little old gas oven that we have in our unit, frankly we don’t really use it, Any time we have tried it it’s over cooks the food (that is probably the Chefs fault rather than the cooker) so got us to thinking should we whip it out and install a Microwave Oven instead (we don’t have the room to put a microwave anywhere else really other that in the awning room, but that seems a little amateur in In my opinion..

Anyone else here made the change?

I know you can get a combination microwave and grill/over but we were thinking cheap and cheerful with 700w Microwaves starting from around €70.. 

Interested in others thoughts and opinions

We had a microwave fitted in our last motorhome and we used it a lot as long as we were plugged in on site.

The van we have now has a gas grill/oven and its a game changer we use it loads & loads .......

We have both in our camper van, we find the microwave very useful when I pre make a curry or chilli to bring with us and reheat individual portions. Only used the gas oven once for some roast spuds. But we bought a small air fryer last year so don’t use the oven at all now

Yeah the air fryer is on the shopping list too, that’s all I use at home. Do like the idea of “batch” cooking at home and reheating it, so think it’s out with the over and in with the Microwave.. Floated the idea of just bringing a microwave and putting it on the sink board or out in the awning.. her look said it all.. so it’s going where the Gas oven was..
