We had an excellent break last weekend, Hillary could not have been more helpful. There are 12 hard stands for camper vans possibly do caravans as well, when we were there there was only camper vans on the stands, there were a few tents camping every night, there are also 3 glamping pods and 2 glamping yuts (not sure how to spell this but you know what I mean).
Our friends rented the 4 berth glamping pod and it was fantastical kitted out, toilet shower, kitchen with fridge, microwave, heaters in case of cold weather. Double bed and couch that folds out into a double bed, in my opinion a bit small for 4 adults, but ideal for 2 adults and 2 kids.
The site is well kitted out, each bay has a power supply, didn’t check the voltage, but I had no trips. There is a light there that illuminates automatically after dark so you can find your way around the stand. As has been said by Aaron, there are 2 showers that also have toilets, one of the toilets was marked out of order, lots of hot water for the showers (gas boilers), there is also a separate toilet beside the gray water disposal, again hot water in the WHB, no shortage of toilet paper.
Gray water disposal area is fantastic as it’s wide and slopes into the drain grill from all 4 sides.
There is a fresh (spring) water supply .
Black water disposal is unusual as it’s a high AJ with a sewer lid (for want of a better name) with 2 handles to assist removal and a hose to wash down after use, all at a comfortable height, the only thing I though strange was the sink for washing down dishes (hot water) was right beside the black water disposal, I very nearly placed the sewer lid on the draining board of the sink before realising what I was doing.
There is a fantastic facility called the Nook and Cranny which is like 2 old sheds converted and there is cooking facilities microwave, hot plates and even a coffee machine. Lots of seating inside and outside for dining or just chillaxing. There are books for sharing and board games for playing, nice rural rustic decor.
One thing I did notice was not many kids, I presume that’s because they don’t really have any playground, though there was an area supposedly with goats that you can feed them grass , but there were none there last week. There is also a small pound where you can let your dog off the lead but it is very small. They seem to be dog friendly but must be kept on a lead.
In my opinion it’s a great place for anybody wanting to do walking cycling in the area or on the greenway. We found it brilliant just to chill out and relax.
There is taxi service available from Dungarvan (about 15-20 mins), didn’t use it as we had a non drinking driver, we were also told that an Indian and a chipper in Dungarvan deliver out to the site.
We visited a local hostelry about 10 mins drive, called Bridgie Terries this is a MUST for everyone, food SUPERB and very reasonable, excellent choices of beers, wines etc. There was music there on the Sunday night. I have some photos if anyone wants to message me I can email or WhatsApp them.
