Well, after almost a year of searching we finally dropped the hammer and took delivery of a 2005 A-Class Hymer Eriba left hand drive last week. we have most of the operation of the van sorted, but 2 items elude us..
1.. it is fitted with a manual extendable satellite dish, and decoder, and I'll be damned if I can figure out how to tune it to UK / Terrestial stations. I believe we wont be able to get Irish Channels ( freeview) but I believe the UK stations are broadcast on the Astra 28 satellite... any ideas how to find this with a manual dish?
2.. the van is fitted with what appears to be 2 x 11kg propane tanks, but they are green in colour, never seen this type before, are they compatible with Irish Pigtails ( connection hoses) , can they be refilled at a gas depot or am I going to have to swap out the tanks and connections to an Irish setup ( red 11kg bottles) ?

any advice and tips greatly appreciated and hope to see some of ye out and about for the new season... our van will be making its maiden trip to Treegrove Kilkenny on March 1st for the weekend to give it a good check out and iron out any issues that may arise.

if it cant be fixed with a hammer, its an electrical fault......

Congratulations Liam well wear.

I cant help you out on the satellite but I will ask on the podcast for you.

On the gas I reckon as one bottle empties just replace it with the equivalent Irish one be red or yellow which ever the tails fit
it.

If we are around March 1st Ill take a spin up to have  a look at the new van and see if we can help with any other issues if any arise.

Update on the gas bottle situation….

Turns out that S&L gas suppliers in greenogue industrial estate in Newcastle/Rathcoole were able to refill the existing bottles that I had. They can fill any type bottle, Irish, UK or European and saves me the few bob exchanging bottles and fittings. Highly recommend them. They are in the same industrial estate as cosy campers.

Hi Liam,   Congratulations and here's to many miles of happy and safe motorhoming.

That's an excellent solution to the gas bottle scenario and a piece of very valuable information for the rest of us.  With regards to the satellite issue, you can purchase a sat finder in any camping accessory outlet like Charles Camping.  You set it to Astra 28E, Connect it to the dish via a piece of co-axe and as you manoeuvre the dish you will hear an audible 'squeal' when it finds the satellite.  It's a bit fiddly at first but when you get used to using it, it becomes very slick and you will have the dish aligned in no time.  Hope this is of some help.

Hopefully, see you on the road in the not-too-distant future.

Cheers Tourer,
I've come across 2 apps that I've downloaded, Satellite Finder and Satellite Pointer. both seek and point to the location in the sky ( via virtual means) of all relevant satellites,
I will try the weekend to re tune the dish and report back if the apps are of any use.
