Eagle Point West Cork

Wow.. stunning location on a massive site which has ultra modern facilities. This site is right on the sea in a safe cove for swimming , fishing , boating. Great cycle routes to local towns with stunning scenery.

Only issue with this site is the price..very expensive and there is even a 5c charge for hot washing up water! showers are inc in the price but at €38 for 2+2 per night its probably the most expensive in the country

I agree on the price and that it could be the most expensive site in the country and i HATE having to pay for showers the only other site iv ever seen a charge for hot dish washing water was Caseys in Clonea .....

But in the case of Eagle Point the views and facilities make it worth a second visit.

Salthill in Galway charge for dish water also I have heard, (have not stayed there as its too close to home)

I'm afraid I would not pay €38 for any campsite in Ireland, after all you are sleeping in your own bed!

You would get a hotel room including brekkies in some counties for that,

Ya it's a pricey, but was well worth the visit. I found them extremely friendly and helpful and a nice atmosphere in the place. I would recommend it for sure... They do things right!

I have a plethora of photos of various campsites that I had on the old website; I'll upload them again when I get a chance.

One of the best sites in Ireland but not suitable for us any more unfortunatly as they don't accept dogs which is a pity

Stayed here this summer (2021) having booked quite early in the year. There's no doubting that the location is beautiful being situated on its own peninsula. Considering the size of the site there are only 6 dedicated campervan pitches with EHU  all quite tight together in semicircle, but the location of those pitches is excellent, right next to one of shingle beaches and with freshwater adjacent and a (very clean) toilet/shower block a 30 second walk. Definitely a great spot if you're a fan of kayaking or swimming.

I actually found the vibe on the site quite strange because at least half of it is taken up with statics and most of these were unoccupied (in July!) which meant that even though it's a huge campsite, there weren't actually that many people around. In fairness they weren't operating at full capacity so there were plenty of other empty pitches around too. 

They do have good facilities but the children's playgrounds could do with some TLC. One just has two swings and a set of parallel bars (??) and the other has a couple of rocking horse things and a kind of activity centre for very young kids - ours were 4 and 6 and they were too old for it. There's a football pitch which was getting a fair bit of use and a tennis court too. There's a garage across from the entrance with a Centra which was very handy. We had some mechanical issue on the day we were due to leave which meant we left well after the designated check out time but there was no hassle from the owners. 

It's a hilly 10km to Glengarriff and 5km to Bantry in the other direction. There's actually a footpath all the way to Bantry so you can walk/cycle it safely. 

All in all even though we had a lovely time there I'm not sure we'd go back. There are plenty of options around West Cork although this is a good base for exploring the surrounding areas. It was €41 night for us (2+2+EHU) so not cheap either.
